Circus Maximuksen teema vuoden 2023 ohjelmistolle on JATKUMOT. Circus Maximus kutsuu taiteilijoita ja muita mahdollisia yhteistyökumppaneita kuvittelemaan erilaisia jatkumoita ja ehdottamaan teemaan sopivaa projektia vuoden 2023 ohjelmistoon. Ehdottamasi projekti voi olla esimerkiksi esitys, seminaari, näyttely, konsertti, julkaisu tai jotain muuta minkä parissa haluat työskennellä.
Jatkumo pitkän tähtäimen tilana jatkuvalle muutokselle.
Jatkumo ei-lineaarisena olemassaolona.
Jatkumo hengitysharjoituksena.
Jatkumo vailla alkua ja loppua.
Jatkumoita joita osaat kuvitella.

Miten ymmärrät jatkumon omassa taiteellisessa työssäsi? Miten työsi voisi jatkua ja kommunikoida erilaisten tulevaisuuksien ja todellisuuksien kanssa? Miten näet oman työsi suhteessa muihin taiteilijoihin, rakenteisiin ja resursseihin? Millaista kommunikaatiota, jakamista ja tukea toivoisit näkeväsi taidekentällä, ja millaisia jatkumoita siitä voisi syntyä? Voit ajatella ehdotuksessasi taidetta ja esitystä laajasti. Taidemuodot, joita Circus Maximus tukee, ovat moninaiset. Me pyrimme tekemään rakenteemme niin läpinäkyviksi, inklusiivisiksi ja kutsuviksi kuin mahdollista – tämä on jatkuva ja päättymätön prosessi, jatkumoiden multiversumi.
Circus Maximus hakee ehdotuksia Suomessa asuvilta taiteilijoilta ja työryhmiltä heidän uransa missä tahansa vaiheessa. Me pyrimme tukemaan aliedustettuja taiteellisia ääniä priorisoimalla hakijoita, jotka tulevat marginalisoiduista asemista ja moninaisista taustoista. Tämä ei tarkoita, että ketään velvoitettaisiin valitsemaan oma marginalisoitu asema työnsä aiheeksi. Ohjelmiston teema on jatkumot, ja voit tehdä sillä mitä haluat.
Valitsemme vuoden 2023 ohjelmistoon maksimissaan neljä projektia. Tukisumma yksittäiselle projektille on enimmillään 5000€, ja se voidaan käyttää kattamaan projektin tuotanto ja/tai palkkakustannuksia. Projektit täytyy toteuttaa 31.12.2023 mennessä. Otamme vastaan ehdotuksia 15.8.-11.9. Lopulliset valinnat ilmoitetaan 26.9. mennessä.

The theme for the 2023 program is CONTINUUMS. Circus Maximus would like to invite artists and other collaborators to imagine different kinds of continuums and apply to be part of Circus Maximus’ program of 2023 with a project that relates to the theme – a project like a performance, a seminar, an exhibition, a concert, a publication or whatever form you are working with.
Continuum as a long-term space for constant change.
Continuum as a non-linear existence.
Continuum as a breathing exercise.
Continuum without beginning and end.
The continuums you can imagine.
The continuums you can’t yet imagine.
The continuums you desire.
The continuums you want to see in the world.
How do you understand a continuum in your artwork? How would you suggest that your work could continue and communicate with different futures and realities? How do you see your work in relation to other artists, structures and resources? What kind of communication, sharing and support you’d wish to see in the art field and what kinds of continuums could that create? You can think very broadly about the idea of art and performance. The artistic free forms Circus Maximus has supported are many. We aim to make our structures as transparent, inclusive, and inviting as possible – it’s a never-ending process, a multiverse of continuums.
Circus Maximus is looking for proposals from Finland-based artists or working groups at any stage of their career. We will support underrepresented artistic voices by prioritizing the applicants who come from marginalized positions and working groups with diverse backgrounds. This doesn’t mean that anyone is obligated to select their marginalized position as the subject for their work. The theme is continuums and you can do whatever you like with it.
We will select up to four applicants to participate in the 2023 program. Each of the chosen works will be supported with up to 5000€ to cover production fees and/or salaries. These projects have to be finalized by December, 31st of 2023. We will receive proposals from August 15th to September 11th. The final decision on the works will be communicated by September 26th.
